Feminine Dresses for the Office

30 Oct

Think career wear needs to be boxy and boring?

After 40, a little bit of softness in the wardrobe does a woman good; feminine plus size cocktail dresses for the office are one way to do that.

Without being overtly sexy or girlish, these two Doncaster styles are excellent examples of how to dress like a woman and still mean business.

The amethyst-colored dress, left, features a jewel neck style with gorgeous cascading ruffles. This tropical-weight wool cocktail dresses under 100 is paired with a matching cardigan (sold separately) for a modern— but feminine — power suit.

The three-piece knit look, right, features a rich mocha color that lets the details — like flower appliqué and ruffles — take center stage. Both Doncaster looks are soft, but extremely polished.

Here are more tips for adding some softness to your work wear:

Look for pretty colors that really flatter your skintone. Jewel tones and pink are options that work especially well.
Add prints. Florals, painterly prints and dots are all distinctly feminine.
Pair feminine dresses with masculine elements (a structured blazer, oxfords, etc.) for stylish twist.
